The name Emeriti (ēmeritī) derives from the Latin emerere — "to serve out one’s time" — reflecting attorneys who have completed distinguished judicial and government careers and now bring that experience to advocacy in the immigration field.

Emeriti Law PLLC is a nationwide immigration law firm with offices in Saint Paul, Minnesota; Washington, D.C.; San Francisco, California; and Cleveland, Ohio. The firm’s founding partners — Ryan Wood, Elizabeth Young, and Wynne Kelly — have collectively presided over thousands of immigration cases and held senior leadership positions at EOIR, the Office of the Associate Attorney General, and DHS. More than that, the founding partners served as primary trainers at EOIR — responsible for teaching substantive immigration law and courtroom practice to newly appointed Immigration Judges. Associate Attorney Aliza Lopes Baker spent eight years as an EOIR Attorney Advisor drafting the decisions Immigration Judges sign, and now leads the firm’s appellate practice.Since entering private practice, Emeriti Law has represented organizations across health care, agriculture, media, hospitality, financial services, and the nonprofit sector on challenging immigration issues and risk mitigation. The firm has handled BIA appeals for individuals in removal proceedings — including individuals whose cases were decided without the benefit of legal representation — and has provided co-counsel support to large law firms and solo practitioners on complex appellate matters. The firm’s attorneys have delivered immigration enforcement training and policy guidance to major organizations, served as expert witnesses, and provided consultation to criminal defense counsel on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions.Emeriti Law was founded on a straightforward principle: the firm’s attorneys leverage their extensive experience to provide thoughtful, practical advice — even in the most challenging cases — to ensure the best possible results. That applies equally to a hospital system preparing for an enforcement encounter and an individual who never had the chance to present their claims.
